PowerHouse
Slot Car Controller

The "black box" that turns a simple resistor controller into a fully electronic controller, setting a new standard for features, reliability, performance, and price. Just plug a resistor controller onto the box, plug the box onto the track, and you get massive power handling plus a full set of electronic controls.

PowerHouse Features

Great for all classes of slot car, from 1/24 scale open down to H.O. Wide range controls allow optimum settings for each type of racing, including wing cars and drag racing.

"Handset" can be any 45 Ohm controller (any value between about 35 Ohms and 100 Ohms will work). A Parma 45 Ohm resistor for a Turbo controller costs less than $10. This is the perfect upgrade to a "starter" kit.

40 "Bands" (using a Parma 45 Ohm resistor) allow fine speed steps not available on 8-band controllers. Or use an 8-band handset to get that solid "hanging resistor controller" feel but with the flexibility of a fully electronic controller (just replace the huge hanging resistor with eight tiny "6.8 Ohm 1/8Watt" resistors from Radio Shack).

"Start Speed" knob sets speed of car at first band.

"Response" knob allows you to easily customize the "feel" for your driving style, car, and track, or to match the feel of any other popular controller. In full "linear" position it feels like a resistor controller. Back it off toward the "exponential" setting to stretch the slower speeds out over more of the trigger range, as sometimes needed for road courses or specific motors or cars.

"End Brake" knob is fully variable (0% to 100%)

"Active Brake" switch allows forced decelleration throughout trigger range (more like a transistor or diode controller) or turn it off to get the feel of a resistor controller. This can tighten up the feel of a car with poor motor braking, or loosen up a car that has a lot of motor/gear braking.

Fully protected against every possible alligator clip misconnection, and against short circuits on the track.

Switchable polarity for "reverse wired" tracks, allowing use worldwide.

Scale Racing Features Separate Start Speed and Response knobs allow all of the settings of a single "sensitivity" knob, plus a lot of "in between" settings that are not available with "single knob" controllers, allowing you to fine tune for each car/motor and track.

Drag Racing Features Start Speed knob allows super slow speeds for perfect control over rollout, and super high speeds for fastest trigger response when racing. Note: PowerHouse requires that its "Red" track wire be connected to the track, which most drag strip owners now allow.

Wing Car Racing Features Runs cool and reliable even when powering the hottest motors on the stickiest tracks. 40-band trigger allows both slow start-up speeds and fast near-full speeds. And, instead of using a heavy, expensive "choke", for five bucks in parts you can add a "maximum speed" knob and "bypass" pushbutton to your handset, providing very nearly the same effect: speed at full trigger is set by "max speed", then push "bypass" to go full speed on the straightaway.

H.O. Scale Features PowerHouse lets you easily drive even the most "ballistic" cars.

Delivers absolutely clean full power to the car, no relay required. Relay contacts are notorious for becoming dirty with age, reducing your top speed.

Box and handset both run cool, no heat sinks required.

Sturdy, small, lightweight, electrically safe box.

Solid copper alligator clips and 12 guage track wires.

Handset wires can be firmly attached to box with #6-32 nuts and spade lugs (instead of alligator clips).

Handset is extra safe (very low voltage and current).

Handset wires can be extended to allow alternative driver locations, without loss of performance (e.g. to allow wheelchair access).

Two year guarantee against defects in manufacturing and workmanship.

Compatible with future advanced handsets from Coast Computer Design.
